Futuros Vivos: Megantoni-Machiguenga is a collaboration to co-create Thriving Futures with the Indigenous and local communities stewarding Peru’s Megantoni National Sanctuary and Machiguenga Communal Reserve in the Peruvian Amazon.

"This year the Futuros Vivos: Megantoni Machiguenga initiative gave me the opportunity to grow personally and professionally, supporting the team with my knowledge of the area and of the people of Saniriato. One of my favorite parts of the year was visiting people in their homes and chacras [small farms] and working alongside them while we spoke about the importance of their participation in the process. This motivated and inspired them to participate in the co-creation of their Community Legacy Plan. During this process, they were able to express themselves and contribute to achieving their Thriving Future.
It motivates me to be able to encourage other young people, especially women, to participate in decision making spaces and to be leaders in their community. I also enjoyed learning and carrying out Legado’s methodology in the community workshops. By focusing on community strengths, their personal legacy, and implementing a 360° Community-Led approach, the community was able to lead their self-assessment and identify their community priorities."

In May, Legado successfully began the co-creation of the first Intercultural Community Legacy Plan (PLCI) in Saniriato.
